Board Member Committees
The committees below are assigned board committees. 

Annual Rural Summit Committee 

Responsibilities of the Summit Committee include:

  • Participating in discussion of annual theme
  • Inviting the main speakers/presenters for talks, workshops, and/or panel discussions.
    Contact Information & Biographies of invited speakers
  • Program Schedule with times and locations of events, which include area Tours, Evening Opportunities 
  • Assist (Suggest) Sponsorship and Exhibitor participants

Expectations for the 6 months of planning

  • Attend meeting once a month meeting
  • 2 - 3 hours of committee work per month 
  • Attend and Assist days of Annual Summit 
    • Introduction of Speakers 
    • Registration table and Exhibit Tables
Board Nominating Committee

Responsible for the general affairs of the board. 

  • To prepare priorities for board composition
  • To meet with prospective board members and recommend candidates to the board
  • To recommend a slate of officers to the board
  • To conduct orientation sessions for new board members and to organize training sessions for

the entire board, and

  • To suggest new, non-board individuals for committee membership.

Finance Committee

Composed of the board Treasurer, President, and two board members. 

Communications Committee

The committee works with the Administrative manager on the websites, social media, and communications with the public and press. 

TRDI Committee

  • Setting of Nomination guidelines and timeline
  • Review of annual nominations
  • Notification to Nominees and Recognition At The Summit

Board and Volunteer Committees
Committees led by board members, with supporters of WRP are welcome to participate. If you are interested in joining any of the committees below or more information, contact Megan Purtell, Administrative Manager.

Annual Summit Committee

  • Identify Focus Area Topics
  • Secure, Solicit and Confirm Content & Speakers / Panelists
  • Work with Host Area for potential Tours and offsite Events
  • Assist with onsite summit day of events
  • Assist with potential sponsors and exhibitors

Small Community Forums Committee:

This committee works with State-wide partners. Community hosts and county locations leaders are welcome to participate. 

Rural Trends Committee

This committee chooses 4 areas each year to focus the annual report. If you would like to participate with the information included, contact board member Errin Welty


Entrepreneurship Committee

New committee for WRP, if interested in participating contact board member Seth Hudson.
